Helmet (kulah khud)

Iran, 19th century

Steel helmet surmounted by a brass spike. A band of Persian calligraphy is inscribed in cartouches along the perimeter. Plume holders on the sides. Silver and gold foliate ornamentation executed using the traditional koftgari technique (overlay).
